Terry with Governer

On Monday, January 8th, the Kansas Legislature convened for the 2007 legislative session. Joined by my family, I had the privilege of being sworn into office alongside the other 124 members of the House of Representatives. For me, the day was filled with hope as members of leadership spoke about the opportunities we would have in the coming session to improve the lives of Kansans and to make our great state even better.

House Minority Leader Dennis McKinney said, "(The legislature) is and should be a place in which people come from all walks of life to present the variety of views found in our people all across the great State of Kansas. We have found that our process works best, and we achieve the best policies, when many good ideas are brought to the table in a vigorous but civil debate."

Although there were many difficulties in the coming days, I believe we achieved many great things. I am humbled by the support I received from my community. I want to thank the people of the 96th District for allowing me the opportunity to serve our state.

As you may know, the State Capitol is currently undergoing major renovations. My office is currently in the Capitol room 521. I will not know until later is year if I will be relocated due to renovation. My office phone is (785) 296-7522 during session.
